چکیده

Aim: To investigate the association between the paraoxonase 1 (PON1) c.163T>A and c.575A>G polymorphisms and coronary artery disease (CAD), and whether specifi c polymorphisms in the PON1 gene are associated with CAD in the southeastern Turkish population. Many diff erent genetic and clinical factors have been identifi ed as causes or contributors to atherosclerosis. Complex diseases such as CAD, hypertension, and diabetes are usually caused by an individual’s susceptibility to various genes, environmental factors, and the interactions between them. Th e PON1 enzyme has been implicated in the pathogenesis of atherosclerosis and CAD.

I405V and -629C/A Polymorphisms of the Cholesteryl Ester Transfer Protein Gene in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease

Background: Cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP) plays a main role in high-density lipoprotein metabolism. CETP gene possesses several single nucleotide polymorphisms which have been associated with plasma high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) concentrations. The aim of this study was to determine the association of CETP -629C/A and I405V polymorphisms with coronary artery disease (...

Association of two Common Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs +45T/G and +276G/T) of ADIPOQ Gene with Coronary Artery Disease in Type 2 Diabetic Patients

Background: Adiponectin, an adipocyte-secreted hormone, is known to have anti-atherogenic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-diabetic properties. In the present study, the association between two common single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) (+45T/G and +276G/T) of ADIOPQ gene and coronary artery disease (CAD) was assessed in the subjects with type 2 diabetes (T2DM). Methods: Genotypes of two SNPs we...

ICAM-1 Polymorphisms (G241R, K469E), in Coronary Artery Disease and Myocardial Infarction

Background: Inflammation plays a critical role in atherogenesis. The initial step in atherosclerosis is the adhesion of leukocytes to activated endothelial cells mediated by ICAM-1, an inflammatory protein. Several polymorphisms for Intracellular adhesion molecule -1(ICAM-) gene have been described. Objective: To determine the possible role of G241R and K469E polymorphisms in development of cor...

Paraoxonase 1 gene polymorphisms contribute to coronary artery disease risk among north Indians.

BACKGROUND Polymorphisms in paraoxonase 1 (PON1) coding for PON1 enzyme have been studied as genetic markers of coronary artery disease (CAD). PON1 Q192R and PON1 L55M polymorphisms have been analyzed extensively, but data on association and role of these polymorphisms in the etiology of CAD are conflicting. In this study, we tested the genetic association between PON1 Q192R and PON1 L55M polym...
